About Melissa

   Welcome to my profile. I think it is important to share my background with you as counseling is about relationships. In choosing the right counselor for you, this page is a good place to start.    

   I completed a Master's Program in Professional Counseling with honors from Texas State University. In addition to three years of counseling training and a year and a half of internship experience, I also bring seven years as a professional transition coach to my practice. I am a certified NLP practitioner and am Reiki II certified. I am fully licensed as a counselor and coach.  

   The unique combination of counseling and coaching that I use offers you an inclusive and holistic view of your challenges while creating awareness and realization of the many available paths for healing. By offering an integrative approach, you have the space for exploration  as well as discovery and action.

   Hailing from Nebraska, I obtained my Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska with honors. I moved to Austin in 1989 and have made Central Texas my home ever since. I am married to my husband, Rick Landi, and we share our home with Freckles, Tatters, Moxie, Lakota and my two spirit kitties, Banchi and Boca.

   My counseling philosophy is that we are all doing the best that we can with what we currently know to do. However, sometimes what we know is no longer enough to get us through what is facing us. Pain, frustration, fear and anger are not emotions to be removed from life, but they do not have to be the norm in your life. Everyone, you included, deserves to find your purpose, your joy, your gifts and your peace. This simply means that there are paths you are not aware of (yet) that may need to be explored. This is where I come in. Together, we walk down those paths and open your life up to something different, something new and something you desire.
